The Emergency Food and Nutrition Assistance Program (EFNAP) seeks to improve the nutritional status of low-income New Yorkers by providing food and funding to approximately 700 emergency food programs (food pantries and community kitchens; facilitating and monitoring SNAP outreach services throughout the emergency food network; and promoting food support benefits.
Under the general supervision of the Community Food Connection (CFC) Coordinator, is responsible for the monitoring of the food distribution operation at approximately 700 emergency food programs and insuring adherence to agency guidelines.
The Community Associate specific duties and responsibilities will consist of:
- Conducting citywide field visits to soup kitchens and food pantry sites in order to monitor and assure adherence to agency mandates.
- Interviewing providers in the Community Food Connection (CFC) in order to maintain current information, files and facilitate services.
- Providing information and technical assistance to individuals, groups, or organizations funded by CFC.
- Maintaining liaisons with groups participating in program and record information obtained and actions taken in meeting with these groups.
- Ensuring compliance with Feed NYC data entry requirements.
- Preparing statistical and programmatic reports.
- Developing and updating community resources, sharing them with CFC participants.
- Assisting in the preparation of flyers, leaflets, and other public relations materials on food related issues, i.e., food distribution, food safety, and nutrition education.
Qualification Requirements
1. High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to duties described above; or
2. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" above.
