The Bronx District Attorney’s Office is seeking a well-qualified staff whose diverse backgrounds reflect an ability to serve the over 1.4 million members of the Bronx County community and pursue a safer Bronx through fair justice. The Bronx County District Attorney’s Office has an opening for a File Clerk who is responsible for all aspects of organizing, retrieving, and maintaining the files of the Domestic Violence Bureau.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Organize and move finished Domestic Violence (DV) files
Retrieve bench warrant files for court
Requesting and retrieving evidence for legal staff
Locate, retrieve and track all DV files needed for U-Visa applications
Supply files to the Appeals Bureau as needed.
Cover front desk reception on morning and afternoon breaks
Intake of complaints from civilian witness and Police Officers.
Assist in obtaining outstanding documentation from NYPD for discovery compliance
Log and track all NYPD property requests, ensuring all property is returned in an efficient and timely manner
Perform all other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
An Associate’s degree preferred or a High School diploma/GED and a minimum of two (2) years working experience in a law firm, governmental agency, civic or community organization
Candidate should possess analytical and problem-solving skills, a sense of responsibility, and an ability to work well independently and in a team environment.
Excellent written and verbal interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent analytical, logical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Exceptional organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and case management software
Familiarity with general court services and functions.
Understanding of the criminal justice system used in New York State and New York City is preferred
Ability to exercise good judgment and strong ethics
Exhibit an ability to maintain confidentiality of information
1. There are no formal education or experience requirements for this position. However, the ability to understand and carry out simple instructions is required.
