The Fire Department, City of New York (FDNY), seeks a full time Document Scanning Technician in the Bureau of Health Services. Reporting directly to the BHS Director, the successful candidate will:
assist in the department’s ongoing document scanning initiative led by the Scanning/Record Retention manager. The selected candidate will be responsible for the following tasks:
Preparing documents for scanning (i.e. removing paper clips, verifying accuracy of each document) ensuring that all paper-based records are accurately prepared prior to scanning keeping documents and binders organized. Utilizing image scanning equipment to scan, create high-quality images and index various types of documents.
Monitoring image creation and adjust scanning equipment and software as required in order to produce high-quality images.
Performing quality control and quality assurance of all scanned digital images.
Ensure proper naming conventions are used.
Indexing documents accurately under correct document type/file structure.
Preparing scanned documents for off-site storage or destruction

Qualification Requirements
A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and one year of satisfactory clerical experience.
Skills Requirement
Keyboard familiarity with the ability to type at a minimum of 100 key strokes (20 words) per minute.
Previous experience in scanning preferred.
