The Bronx District Attorney’s Office is seeking a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Coordinator. The office’s DEI mission is to support the prosecutorial mission of the office, which strives to pursue justice with integrity through 4 key pillars-Transformative Engagement, Cultural Education and Programming, Inclusive and CLE-Related Workplace Training/Professional Development, and DEI-Related Research and Data Assessment. Through its work in these four areas, the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion focuses on creating dynamic and relevant cross-functional initiatives that advance the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

The DEI Coordinator will serve as an important point person on the team for assisting the DEI team in connecting with BXDA stakeholders and advancing key goals related to inclusion, equity and belonging. Responsibilities of the role include:

Assisting with the planning, developing, and coordinating of DEI initiatives with an emphasis on providing support to Employee Resouce Groups (ERGs) and related cultural programs, as well as event implementation.

The Coordinator will serve as the team’s ERG liaison helping to guide the success and launch of ERG(employee resource groups) in the Bronx District’s Office. As the liaison to ERGs, the DEI

Coordinator will assist ERGs with their charter process, advise and consult with them on events, and provide guidance and editing support on communications related to ERG programming and office outreach.

Providing research support in connection with DEI initiatives related to programming/cultural education, events, best practices, policies and if needed, training initiatives.

Assisting in the development of team materials and communications, including graphic design, editing support, and serving as a point person to the BXDA Printing team.

The coordinator will also work with the DEI Chief and Deputy Chief on special projects requested by the DA or other office stakeholders, as well as contribute to long-term DEI goals and programs at BXDA.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

The candidate must possess a four-year college degree. A Master's degree in public administration, organizational psychology, business administration or human resources, while not required, would be highly valuable to this role.

Candidate should be self-directed, reliable, diligent and committed to the work of justice and public service. The office mantra of the District Attorney's Office is "Pursuing Justice with Integrity" and it is expected that the candidate's work ethic and commitment to excellence will support this goal.

Prior experience in a diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging role in the private, public, higher education, government or non-profit sector is a must. Existing competency in being part of a DEI practice is an essential requirement of the role and its demands.

Strong interpersonal, communications, writing and graphic design skills are desired. Employee engagement and relationship-building is an important part of this role. Part of this role will also involve content creation. Excellent competencies in design software like Canva, Microsoft PPT and the creation of forms, documents and presentations is required.

Solid writing skills are also required. Submission of a writing sample or graphic design or presentation may be requested within the interview process.

Candidate should be familiar with the work of a prosecutor's office and the role of DEI in supporting its work on behalf of the community it serves. While experience in a prior law firm or law office is not required, alertness to the demands of fast-paced criminal justice focused law office and the work of prosecution is a valuable asset in this role.

Candidate should have a strong sense of purpose and the ability to build rapport with others. Candidate should also be a creative thinker and problem solver who enjoys supporting workplace teams and helping to sustain and contribute towards a positive, inclusive and empowering workplace culture that fosters belonging.


Minimum Qualifications

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
