The Department of Social Services (DSS) is comprised of the administrative units of the New York City Human Resources Administration (HRA) and the Department of Homeless Services (DHS). HRA is dedicated to fighting poverty and income inequality by providing New Yorkers in need with essential benefits such as Food Assistance and Emergency Rental Assistance. DHS is committed to preventing and addressing homelessness in New York City by employing a variety of innovative strategies to help families and individuals successfully exit shelter and return to self-sufficiency as quickly as possible.
HRA/General Support Services (GSS) provides safe, healthy, and appropriate facilities for HRA’s various social service programs. Its many functions include: facilities planning and coordination, design and construction, renovation, repair and maintenance, custodial and other building services, health/safety program coordination, lease and property management, land use and environmental review activities, contract administration for facilities services, emergency management, fleet and warehouse operations. GSS plays a major role in HRA emergency preparedness.
General Support Services/Office of Planning & Logistics is recruiting for one (1) Administrative Storekeeper M-1 to function as Director of Warehouse Operations who under the direction of the Executive Director of Planning & Logistics, performs duties related to warehouse operations and will:
- Oversee and administer the GSS Logistics warehouse operations.
- Manage the inventory control operations of mission critical commodities and supplies for the agency.
- Directly manage the staff and coordinates the operations of the warehouse, including service contract invoice processing, maintenance of material handling equipment, safety, dispatch & transportation, customer order processing, product inspection and quality control of all incoming and outgoing supplies.
- Collaborate with 3rd party logistics providers, agency-wide customers, service contract vendors, GSS Procurement, GSS Budget Management, to ensure fluid supplies and services are provided.
- Review and provide ledgers, reports, and spreadsheets to GSS executive management.
- Formulate Supply Chain policies regarding operations, procedures, and methods.
- Participate in ongoing continuous process improvement programs; identify ways to increase efficiency
and effectiveness.
1. Six years of full-time progressively responsible experience in warehousing operations at least 18 months of which must have been in a managerial or administrative capacity requiring independent decision-making concerning management or planning, allocation of resources and the scheduling and assignment of work; or
2. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" above. Education may be substituted for the general administrative experience (but not for the 18 months of managerial experience described above) at the rate of 1 year of college for 6 months of experience up to a maximum of 4 years of college for 2 years of experience.
- Excellent communication skills. - Supply Chain experience. - Project Management skills a plus.
