The New York City Department of Correction (DOC) is an integral part of the City’s evolving criminal justice system, participating in reform initiatives and strategies aimed to move the City towards a smaller jail system without compromising public safety. The DOC is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for our employees, visitors, volunteers, and people in our custody. Importantly, safe jails enable DOC to provide people in custody with the tools and opportunities they need to successfully re-enter their communities. The DOC operates facilities and court commands across the five boroughs with more than 7,500 diverse professionals and knowledgeable experts.
Under the direction of the Senior Executive Director of Nutritional Services, the selected candidate will plan, organize, and have the responsibility for all aspects of food purchasing. Including and not limited to:
- Managerial supervision all procurement analyst to ensure the procurement of
food is accurate and timely.
- Communicate with vendors, DCAS and Financial Services to coordinate
accurate and timely deliveries of food.
- Utilize menu and census to produce procurement documents.
- Conduct meeting with Storekeepers, Procurement Analyst, Director of Clinical
Nutritional Services, Senior Executive Director, and all other correction personnel
involved in the food procurement/storage and distribution and utilization process.
- Maintain current and accurate inventory and utilize in food procurement.
- Ensure timely preparation of data needed to prepare food requisitions decreases
and increases.
- Trouble shoot with all appropriate parties to resolve food service procurement,
storage or other issue topics.
- Monitor food budget to ensure foods are appropriately transferred to the correct
budget code/purchase order.
- Perform periodic field visits to all storage areas for observation to insure the proper
storing of procured items
- Other duties as assigned.
*MUST BE CURRENTLY HOLDING PERMANENT ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF ANALYST TITLE*
1. A master's degree from an accredited college in economics, finance, accounting, business or public administration, human resources management, management science, operations research, organizational behavior, industrial psychology, statistics, personnel administration, labor relations, psychology, sociology, human resources development, political science, urban studies or a closely related field, and two years of satisfactory full-time professional experience in one or a combination of the following: working with the budget of a large public or private concern in budget administration, accounting, economic or financial administration, or fiscal or economic research; in management or methods analysis, operations research, organizational research or program evaluation; in personnel or public administration, recruitment, position classification, personnel relations, employee benefits, staff development, employment program planning/administration, labor market research, economic planning, social services program planning/evaluation, or fiscal management; or in a related area. 18 months of this experience must have been in an executive, managerial, administrative or supervisory capacity. Supervision must have included supervising staff performing professional work in the areas described above; or
2. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and four years of professional experience in the areas described in "1" above, including the 18 months of executive, managerial, administrative or supervisory experience, as described in "1" above.
