Job Description:
- Program Development and Oversight: Develop and enhance career development programs, achieving significant increases in client referrals to employment services.
Manage a portfolio of career programs, ensuring successful participant outcomes.
- Data Tracking and Improvement: Analyze program data to identify effective strategies, facilitating continuous improvement in employment-focused services. Prepare and present
comprehensive reports, dashboards, and toolkits to support data collection and program deliverables.
- Grant Writing and Financial Management: Research and evaluate grants to support program initiatives. Assist in the development of Request for Proposal (RFP) processes and ensure
compliance with budgetary guidelines.
- Employer Relations and Networking: Build and expand partnerships with NYC employers to enhance worksite opportunities for clients. Conduct citywide worksite visits to monitor program
effectiveness and strengthen employer relationships. Collaborate with the Mayor's Office for Talent and Career Development on strategic initiatives.
- Staff Supervision and Professional Development: Supervise, train, coach, and mentor staff to enhance program effectiveness and adherence to best practices. Facilitate career development
workshops that empower probation clients and promote participant success.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with internal and external research teams, including the Research and Evaluation team, to ensure comprehensive outreach strategies
maximize client success. Lead citywide information sessions with career partners to inform and educate Probation Officers. Provide technical assistance to service providers and Department
of Probation (DOP) staff to ensure quality service delivery.
- Strategic Planning and Innovation: Assist the Deputy Commissioner in both short- and long-range planning to meet client needs and career goals. Identify and implement new programs that
address emerging trends and client needs. Respond to difficult or sensitive inquiries and complaints, providing resolutions and alternative recommendations.
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and three years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience, one year of which must have been in an administrative capacity or supervising staff performing clerical/administrative work of more than moderate difficulty; or
2. An associate degree or 60 semester credits from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience including one year of the administrative supervisory experience described in "1" above; or
3. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and five years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience including one year of the administrative supervisory experience as described in "1" above;
4. Education and/or experience equivalent to "1", "2", or "3" above. However, all candidates must possess the one year of administrative or supervisory experience as described in "1" above. Education above the high school level may be substituted for the general clerical/administrative experience (but not for the one year of administrative or supervisory experience described in "1" above) at a rate of 30 semester credits from an accredited college for 6 months of experience up to a maximum of 3½ years.
Additional Responsibilities: o Serve as DOP's Employment Liaison, working with the Mayor's Office for Talent and career Development on career employment and career initiatives. o Ensure clients have the necessary tools and resources for successful job searches. o Assist with special projects as needed, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in fulfilling departmental objectives.
