Job Description

The Support Services Bureau oversees commands that maintain the Department's Fleet (Fleet Services Division), secures property (Property Clerk Division), maintains and disseminates Department records (Central Records Division), and processes the printing of documents for the Department (Printing Section). Fleet Services Section is responsible for the upkeep and/or repair of all NYPD vehicles.
Under the general direction of the Assistant Commissioner, Fleet Services Division, with some latitude for independent judgment, action and decision-making, the Director of Fleet Services Division, will assist in the management of the technical and administrative operations of the Fleet Services Division which is comprised of uniformed and civilian professionals, administrative and technical personnel. The Director will assist the Assistant Commissioner who is responsible for maintaining and accounting for the Department's diverse fleet, and a related perpetual inventory of parts and equipment, including procurement, maintenance and relinquishment of vehicles. and ensures all Department vehicles are in the safest working order. Serves as an advisor to Assistant Commissioner on all fleet related matters; maintains liaisons with federal, state, and city agencies regarding laws and safety regulations for motor vehicles; and also serves as the Department's technical expert on issues impacting fleet services operations and administration.

Qualification Requirements
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and five (5) years of full-time paid experience acquired in a large scale program of motor equipment maintenance and repair, three years of which must have been in a responsible executive capacity; or
2. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1". However, all candidates are required to have a high school diploma or its equivalent and the three years responsible executive experience.
Preferred candidate should possess 5-10 years managing an agency fleet, strong leadership skills and must have good attendance and performance evaluation records.
