We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Director of Enterprise Systems and Platform Engineering to lead our System and Platform Engineering team in a fast-paced and dynamic environment in the Infrastructure Management Division under the City of New York Office of Technology and Innovation organization. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in managing and optimizing systems and platform infrastructure for large-scale enterprise environments. They will also have a deep understanding of hyper-converged infrastructure, micro segmentation implementation, and cloud technologies and the ability to leverage these technologies to deliver innovative and cost-effective solutions.

The successful candidate will serve as the Director of Enterprise Systems and Platform Engineering, reporting directly to the Senior Director of Enterprise Systems Services, in the Infrastructure Management division. The Director will directly supervise staff, overseeing the functions, continuous operations and architecture of the Systems and Platform environment. The Director is expected to respond to outage calls as needed to provide oversight until resolution; ensure that support tickets, user requests, architectural reviews and audits are meeting Service Level Agreement (SLA) for all services under the Systems and Platform Engineering group. This position is part of 24/7 service availability.

Responsibilities will include:
- Oversee the team responsible for the planning and engineering of the agency’s private cloud infrastructure;
- Manage platforms and systems that support public facing services and interagency application services;
- Build and support of hybrid cloud services;
- Ensure all aspects of support, build, optimization, performance, and maintenance meet SLA’s and citywide standards and policies;
- Administer a large hyper-converged infrastructure and micro segmentation implementation;
- Provide direct oversight to the engineering team to ensure troubleshooting of virtualization related issues as well as working with escalations from other teams to ensure stability of the environment;
- Provide reports to executives for virtualized infrastructure with detailed supported data;
- Direct the engineering team to develop templates and referenced architecture standards;
- Oversee scheduling and the performance of regular system maintenance;
- Work to ensure cross-training within the team, optimize staff based on skill levels/performance;
- Provide level 3 support to the Operations teams to resolve issues with agency applications/databases running in the environment;
- Manage staff and consultant assignments, monitor performance, and change processes to adhere to OTI’s policy and standards;
- Manage vendor relationships and maintain effective communication related to Enterprise Systems & Platform Engineering team;
- Address system vulnerability based on severity and compliance;
- Oversee special projects and initiatives as assigned.

HOURS/SHIFT
Day - Due to the necessary technical management duties of this position in a 24/7 operation, candidate may be required to be on call and/or work various shifts such as weekends and/or nights/evenings.

Minimum Qualifications

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college including or supplemented by 24 credits in the field of voice and/or data telecommunications or in a pertinent scientific, technical, electronic or related area, and four years of satisfactory fulltime experience in the performance of analytical, planning, operational, technical, or administrative duties in a voice and/or data telecommunications or closely related electronics planning, management, and/or service organization, one year of which must have been in a highly specialized capacity and 18 months must have been in an executive, managerial, or administrative capacity or in the supervision of staff performing work in the voice and/or data telecommunications field; or
2. An associate degree from an accredited college including or supplemented by 12 credits in the field of voice and/or data telecommunications or in a pertinent, scientific, technical, electronic or related area and five years of experience as described in "1" above; or
3. Education and/or experience equivalent to "1" above. However, all candidates must have at least a four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and one year of the specialized experience as described in "1" above and must possess the 18 months of executive, managerial, administrative or supervisory experience as described in "1" above.


Preferred Skills

The preferred candidate should possess the following: - Expertise in systems engineering principles and practices - Proven experience in leading and managing a team of systems engineers and consultants - Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Windows Servers - Knowledge and experience with VMware Virtualization - Knowledge and experience with Hyper-Converge technology and hardware - Knowledge and experience with Cloud Technology - Experience in recruiting/training employees, communicating job expectations, and monitoring performance - Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills - Strong problem-solving, critical thinking and decision-making skills - Strong multi-tasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks - Strong organizational skills - Must have a strong dedication to customer service - Strong teamwork and motivational skills.
