The New York City Administration for Children’s Services of Office of Information Technology (OIT) department has the responsibility to provide high quality, reliable, sustainable technology services and support to meet the needs of the families and children we serve through ACS and its vendor partners and other city agencies.

The Administration for Childrens Services (ACS) in New York City seeks a dynamic and experienced Director of Enterprise Architecture to work within the Office of Information Technology. This Director of Enterprise Architecture is a key leadership role responsible for providing strategic direction and oversight of enterprise architecture activities within the Office of Information Technology.
The Director will work closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to define and execute ACS's technology roadmap, ensuring that IT solutions align with the organizations strategic objectives and business needs.

Key responsibilities will include but not limited to:

Enterprise Architecture Strategy:
- Develop and maintain the enterprise architecture vision, strategy, and principles to guide technology decision-making.
- Define and communicate architecture standards, best practices, and policies to ensure consistency and alignment across ACS's IT ecosystem.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to align technology initiatives with the organizations mission and goals.

Technical Leadership:
- Work collaboratively with the senior leadership and other technical professionals in designing and implementing enterprise-level solutions.
- Provide guidance and expertise in areas such as application architecture, infrastructure design, data management, and security.
- Stay current with emerging technology trends and assess their potential impact on ACS's IT landscape.

Enterprise Solution Design:
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into effective, scalable, and secure technology solutions.
- Create and maintain architectural blueprints, roadmaps, and documentation to guide solution development.
- Ensure that architectural designs adhere to industry best practices and comply with regulatory requirements.

Governance and Compliance:
- Establish and oversee architecture governance processes to review and approve technology projects and solutions.
- Work closely with the Office of CISO to ensure compliance with security, data privacy, and regulatory standards.
- Monitor and assess the performance of existing systems and recommend improvements and optimizations.

Collaboration and Communication:
- Foster collaboration and alignment among IT teams, business units, and external partners.
- Communicate architectural decisions and rationale to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Act as a subject matter expert on enterprise architecture topics and provide guidance to project teams.


Minimum Qualifications

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in computer science, engineering, human computer interaction, interactive media, digital and graphics design, data visualization, communication or a related field, and four years of satisfactory full-time experience related to the area(s) required by the particular position and a specialization in a relevant technology, process, methodology and/or domain; or

2. An associate degree from an accredited college in computer science, engineering, human computer interaction, interactive media, digital and graphics design, data visualization, communication or a related field, and six years of satisfactory full-time experience related to the area(s) required by the particular position and a specialization in a relevant technology, process, methodology and/or domain; or

3. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college, and eight years of satisfactory full-time experience related to the area(s) required by the particular position and a specialization in a relevant technology, process, methodology and/or domain; or

4. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1", "2", or "3" above.


Preferred Skills

The selected candidate should possess the following: - Industry certifications such as TOGAF, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect. - Experience working in government or public sector organizations. - Familiarity with child welfare and social services systems. - Knowledge of emerging technologies such as cloud computing, containerization, and microservices. - Minimum of 10 years of experience in IT, including at least 5 years in enterprise architecture roles. - Strong leadership and team management skills. - Proven experience in designing and implementing complex enterprise solutions. - Deep knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF) and methodologies. - Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities. - Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
