The New York City Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) invests in a network of community-based organizations and programs to alleviate the effects of poverty and to provide opportunities for New Yorkers and communities to flourish. DYCD supports New York City youth and their families by funding a wide range of high-quality youth and community development programs, including afterschool, community centers, fatherhood, immigrant and literacy services, Office of Neighborhood Safety, runaway and homeless youth, and youth workforce development. Position Overview:
The Digital Content Manager is responsible for driving the agency's digital content strategy, ensuring alignment with the agency’s mission to serve youth and communities. This role focuses on creating, managing, and analyzing content across various platforms, with an emphasis on increasing engagement, visibility, and impact.
Responsibilities:
Content Strategy & Development:
-Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive digital content strategy that aligns with the agency's mission and goals.
-Create original, high-quality content in collaboration with the Communications team that highlights DYCD’s efforts and achievements.
-Identify gaps in existing content and integrate SEO best practices to optimize digital presence.
Platform Management & Analysis:
-Manage the day-to-day operations of DYCD’s digital platforms, including the agency intranet, social media channels, and content management systems.
-Supervise and oversee the performance of Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram accounts.
Engagement & Outreach:
-Develop and implement content engagement strategies aimed at exceeding social media metrics and enhancing community outreach.
-Collaborate with internal agency units and external vendors to establish a consistent voice and content strategy that drives awareness and engagement.
Innovation & Continuous Learning:
-Stay up to date with emerging digital trends, methodologies, and technologies, ensuring that the agency’s digital strategy remains cutting-edge.
-Foster a culture of continuous learning within the team, encouraging the adoption of best practices and innovative approaches.
Project Management:
-Oversee the development and execution of a daily content calendar, ensuring timely and effective activation of digital campaigns and content assets.
-Manage the performance and effectiveness of all digital content, using data-driven insights to refine and optimize future methodologies.
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
Preferred Skills - Excellent writing skills, including storytelling and speechwriting. - The ability to generate agency activity reports and weekly staff messages. - Event planning and management, including creation of “runs of show.” - Photography, videography, and basic knowledge of editing software such as Photoshop. - Sound judgement and decision-making under tight deadlines. - Experience in working with youth in a professional or volunteer capacity.
