The Bronx County District Attorney's Office (BXDA) seeks a well-qualified staff whose diverse backgrounds reflect an ability to serve the 1.4 million members of the Bronx County community and pursue a safer Bronx through fair justice. The General Counsel Division is seeking a Deputy Equal Employment Opportunity ("EEO") Officer to assist the EEO Officer to administer Equal Employment Opportunity, promote diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace, with a focus on prioritizing employee retention. The Deputy EEO Officer works with the EEO Officer to ensure office-wide compliance with all applicable laws related to equal opportunity in the workplace and requires current working knowledge of relevant statutes and regulations.



JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direction of the BXDA EEO Officer

Partner with the EEO Officer on the development of the Equal Employment Opportunity Office.

Establish and implement EEO efforts that effectively communicate and support the Office’s mission and strategic vision.

Investigate complaints by conducting interviews and gathering evidence as necessary. Prepare reports with analysis, findings, and recommended disciplinary or corrective action.

Manage requests for EEO Reasonable Accommodations, input into City database, and maintain current records.

Facilitate BXDA's compliance with state and federal legal requirements in areas such as: EEO, Reasonable Accommodations, ADA, Title VII, and Title IX. Familiarity with 55-a Program and ADA regulations.

Ensure BXDA's compliance with The Equal Employment Practices Commission and Chapters 35 and 36 of the NYC Charter in a timely manner.

Assist in auditing BXDA's recruitment practices, performance evaluation policies, and practices to ensure compliance with state and federal laws.

Assist in review of BXDA's statistical information (i.e., workforce, hires, promotions, transfers, and separations) to identify areas of improvement and implement corrective action to resolve issues as necessary.

Monitor EEO City Mandated Trainings – EEO, Sexual Harassment Prevention, and LGTBQ+.

Collaborate and meet with the Department of Citywide Administrative Services, EEPC, etc. on EEO related matters on an as-needed basis.

Coach and mentor leadership and legal/professional staff on appropriate behavior in the workplace for preventative and risk management purposes.

Maintain an in-depth understanding of organizational policy manuals and workplace best practices.

Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in Public Administration, HR, Social Work, Industrial/Organizational Psychology or a Law Degree preferred.

Bachelor's degree and ten years of work-related experience OR fourteen years of work-related experience post-high school including five years management experience required.

Working knowledge of state and federal employment laws and regulations.

Ability to maintain absolute confidentiality of information.

Strong ability to multi-task and handle concurrent assignments.

Exceptional organizational skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, confidential environment.

Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills and the ability to organize information expeditiously and concisely.

Ability to identify fundamental problems and procedural irregularities, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, deal with sensitive information, and comply with HIPAA.

Must be proficient with MS Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Experience in creating legally compliant programs, processes and procedures preferred.

EEO, HR and/or career counseling certifications preferred.
