Job Description

Domestic Violence Services (DVS) provides a variety of comprehensive immediate and long-term support services to survivors of domestic violence (dv) and their families. DVS provides oversight for the largest domestic shelter system in the country which provides safety and services for this vulnerable population. This network of more than 54 domestic violence shelters provides temporary emergency housing, and supportive services to over 17,500 victims of domestic violence and their children annually. DVS provides oversight and funding for the 24-hour domestic violence hotline. DVS also administers the No Violence Again (NOVA) program located at the DHS intake centers, and the Domestic Violence Liaison Unit, which provides domestic violence counseling and intervention at the Benefits Access Centers (BACs). DVS partners with a network of community-based organizations, that provide counseling, legal services, financial development services, and job readiness for domestic violence survivors.
The NoVA (No Violence Again) program coordinates the work of the NoVA Social Services outstation program within the identified Department of Homeless Services (DHS) residential facilities as well as the work of the Mobile Response Teams. The Senior Team Coordinator will supervise social work staff working in identified DHS sites and will facilitate an expeditious response to domestic violence incidents/issues in DHS shelter sites; coordinate services with appropriate service providers and provide staff training and consultation on DV issues/cases specifically intimate partner violence as needed. Works in accordance with the policies and procedures of HRA and DHS; and performs difficult/complex program evaluation and planning work for the Agency.
Domestic Violence Services (DVS) is recruiting one (1) Supervisor III (Social Work), to function as the DEPUTY DIRECTOR PROJECT NOVA who will:
- Supervise and facilitate the provision of trauma informed crisis intervention services in response to DV incidents and high-risk situations.
- Provide DHS staff training and consultation on domestic violence related issues.
- Provide consultation and technical assistance to subordinate staff and others by researching and analyzing information in addition to recommending corrective actions to be taken. Conducts conferences as needed.
- Develop procedures and program design in conjunction with management to meet identified needs and ensure delivery of services.
- Supervise staff in the assessment for domestic violence services, including assistance with domestic violence shelter placement when appropriate.
- Assess staff training needs to work with appropriate staff to develop training materials and conducts training sessions and workshops as needed.
- Liaison with domestic violence service providers to develop referral procedures and service resources.
Salary Range: $84,863 – $97,593

SUPERVISOR III SOCIAL WORK - 52633
1. A Master's Degree in Social Work from an accredited school of social work and three years of full-time satisfactory experience practicing social work utilizing one, or a combination of, casework, group work and community organization methodologies, at least two years of which must have been in a supervisory capacity.
2. Certification/License Requirements: A valid Certified Social Worker (CSW) certificate or Licensed Master of Social Work license (LMSW) issued by the New York State Department of Education must be obtained within one year of the date of appointment. Employees who fail to obtain their CSW or LMSW within one year after appointment will automatically have their probationary period extended for no more than six months. Failure to obtain the CSW or LMSW by the end of 18 months of service will result in dismissal.
3. Special Note: Section 424-a of the New York Social Services Law requires an authorized agency to inquire whether a candidate for employment with child-care responsibilities has been the subject of a child abuse and maltreatment report. The agency has the discretion to assign a candidate who has been the subject of a child abuse and maltreatment report to a position with no child-care responsibilities.
