The NYC Department of Design and Construction, Division of Safety & Site Support, seeks a Deputy Director for the Office of Land Surveying. The selected candidate will report to the Director and oversee the overall activities, operations, and work products of the Project Management and the Review Units. This includes management of multiple requirements contracts for professional land surveying services supporting DDC Infrastructure and Public Buildings capital construction projects. The selected candidate will be responsible for contract preparation, procurement, and contract management, including reviewing capital project scopes of work and fee proposals, developing project schedules, monitoring survey assignments and progress, reviewing invoices, preparing and processing payments. The candidate will also facilitate monthly meetings with consultants to ensure all project-related tasks are progressing as per schedule and cost; and address any potential delays; develop Standard Operating Procedures and manuals, prepare various reports, spreadsheets, coordinate with other agencies, monitor and report key performance indicators with focus on continuous improvement, and develop and maintain project tracking spreadsheets. The Deputy Director will ensure that all surveying requests are completed accurately and on time and deliverables are thoroughly reviewed for compliance with applicable standards, agency policies, and technical requirements. The Deputy Director will also coordinate in a timely and effective manner with other offices within the division and across the agency to support project delivery and operational objectives.

ADMINISTRATIVE PROJECT MANAGER - 8300B


Minimum Qualifications


1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in engineering, architecture, landscape architecture, business administration, or public administration, and five years of full-time satisfactory experience in the planning, administering or expediting of engineering design, and/or construction, or coordinating a very large engineering project, two years of which must have been in an administrative, managerial, executive or supervisory capacity; or
2. A four year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and nine years of experience as described in "1" above; two years of which must have been in an administrative, managerial, executive or supervisory capacity; or

3. Education and/or experience equivalent to "1" or "2" above. An accredited Master's degree in one of the disciplines described in "1" above, a law degree, or a valid New York State license as a Professional Engineer or Registered Architect or Landscape Architect may be substituted for one year of the required experience. However, all candidates must have the two years of the administrative, managerial, executive or supervisory experience as described in "1" above.


Preferred Skills


Seven (7) years of contract management, land surveying and supervisory experience. The candidate should possess the ability to work collaboratively with others and perform detailed work under time-sensitive deadlines. Excellent organizational, strong analytical, verbal, written, and computer skills are preferred.
