The Deputy Director of Supervision and Coaching will work closely with ACS staff, CUNY partners, and consultants to implement and coordinate an extensive coaching model throughout NYC’s child welfare and juvenile justice divisions. This position will work with a team of deputy directors within the Workforce Institute to improve the learning, coaching, and supervision of ACS and Provider Agency staff necessary to provide high-quality services to children and families. This position will play a key role in supporting the implementation strategy of using coaching in the supervision of more than 3,000 direct care workers and supervisors in the Division of Child Protection, Division of Youth and Family Justice, and several thousand direct care employees of ACS contract provider agencies. The focus of this position is to support the ongoing WI coaching initiative and build a coaching culture throughout child welfare. This position will serve as a key liaison within the Workforce Institute to integrate coaching into supervision and learning for child welfare and juvenile justice supervisors.

Responsibilities of this position include:
- Support the development of and lead the implementation of a coaching model into supervision throughout ACS and contract agencies. Including skills-based content, learning reinforcement, follow-up coaching, and evaluation components.
- Develop and support the implementation of a logistics and recruitment plan for learning programs to be delivered; including space reservation, inviting participants, developing marketing materials, and procuring materials needed for participants.
- Assist the Senior Director in establishing buy-in for the implementation of supervision standards and the integration of a coaching model.
- Support efforts, in partnership with CUNY, to ensure that the coaching initiatives and learning programs, designed to support the transfer of learning and enhance the delivery of services, are being delivered as intended and adhere to policy and procedure.
- Liaise with key stakeholders to drive the program forward on an established timeline.
- Gather feedback to make recommendations for improved operations.
- Collaborate with borough-based coaches on a regular basis to assess progress and develop goals.
- Organize and facilitate coaching workshops including coaching collaboratives, skill refreshers, and other professional development workshops for ACS staff
- Prepare reports as needed outlining progress on goals and strategies to improve implementation.
- Work collaboratively with Workforce Institute QA department to ensure fidelity to the model and ensure a continuous feedback process for quality assurance.
- Meet with learners, as needed, to support the implementation of coaching into supervision with direct care staff.
- Work closely with CUNY and other consultants to ensure the timely and successful completion of project deliverables.
- Provide professional development opportunities to Workforce Institute staff.
- Public speaking, as needed and occasionally to large groups, regarding the initiatives described above.
- Develop ideas for additional interventions to enhance the professional development of direct care workforce and supervisory practices.
- Travel within NYC’s five boroughs to facilitate programs as needed and to support the implementation of coaching
- Provide other responsibilities as needed.


Minimum Qualifications

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and four years of progressively responsible experience, including one year at the administrative or managerial level in a large governmental agency, business firm, civic or community organization operating in the area of social services; or

2. Education and/or experience equivalent to "1" above. However, all candidates must have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and the one year of experience at the administrative or management level as described in "1" above.


Preferred Skills

The preferred candidate should possess the following: a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college with a minimum of 18 months of experience in a supervisory, administrative, managerial or executive role, a coaching certification or completion of advanced coaching training along with a minimum of 2 years of experience providing coaching to staff or clients ability to conceptualize, process, develop and implement projects in a timely manner strong working knowledge of supervision and coaching on all levels with a minimum of four years’ experience in direct service programming experience leading or providing integral support to a large scale organizational change program working knowledge of organizational development and change management theories and strategies ability to positively engage with partners in various levels of hierarchy strong communication skills ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently to achieve necessary results capability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects at one time excellent oral and written communication skills strong organizational skills and attention to detail and commitment to a collegial workplace is required.
