Job Description
The Traffic Operations Division plays a significant role in managing the City's transportation infrastructure, which includes oversight of 14,000 signalized intersections, over 350,000 street lights, the Traffic Management Center, approximately 90,000 on-street parking spaces, off-street parking facilities, the Park NYC payment app, and Automated Camera Enforcement programs.
The Deputy Chief of Staff will work with the Chief of Staff and senior leadership within the Traffic Operations division. This role is critical in coordinating policy, operations, and communications across teams to ensure the division delivers on its mission of safety, efficiency, and innovation in managing New York City’s streets.
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Provide direct support to the Chief of Staff in managing division priorities, initiatives, and staff coordination
- Develop agendas, briefing materials, reports, and presentations for the Deputy Commissioner and senior leadership
- Supervise special projects including managing the division wide SharePoint site and other reporting needs
- Serve as a liaison between Traffic Operations leadership and other DOT divisions, ensuring smooth communication and collaboration.
- Performs other related duties and functions as required.

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities with strong attention to detail and follow-through. Outstanding interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills and the ability to interact effectively with diverse staff and management. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
