Job Description
The New York City Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) invests in a network of
community-based organizations and programs to alleviate the effects of poverty and to provide
opportunities for New Yorkers and communities to flourish.
The Research Analyst will be responsible for supporting the integrity of DYCD programs and
contracted Community Based Organizations administered by the Department of Youth and Community
Development.
The Research Analyst will be responsible for:
- Manage the data manipulation of large data files extracted from various database and export data into reports and spreadsheets that can be analyzed and used for decision making.
- Prepare complex reports summarizing research findings with recommendations for improvement. Implement research projects to improve services provided.
- Make presentations to convey results to participating parties.
- Maintain daily communication with the Agency Chief Contracting Officer (ACCO) on the status of ongoing projects and new initiatives, as well as report updates and findings.
Make recommendations when required.
- Provide project coordination and research assistance to maintain working relationships with DYCD
program unit and City Oversight agencies.
- Prepare detailed written and statistical reports for the ACCO including but not limited to statistics on vendors performance across DYCD program areas, cautions and negative findings as it relates to a vendor's ability to receive a City contract.
- Utilize program and administrative data to develop report indicators that measure administrative efficiencies and program outcomes.
- Assist in the preparation of materials for special or ad hoc projectsand requests, including independent research and analyses

1. For Assignment Level I (only physical, biological and environmental sciences and public health) A master's degree from an accredited college or university with a specialization in an appropriate field of physical, biological or environmental science or in public health.
To be appointed to Assignment Level II and above, candidates must have:
1. A doctorate degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in an appropriate field of physical, biological, environmental or social science and one year of full-time experience in a responsible supervisory, administrative or research capacity in the appropriate field of specialization; or
2. A master's degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in an appropriate field of physical, biological, environmental or social science and three years of responsible full-time research experience in the appropriate field of specialization; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least a master's degree in an appropriate field of specialization and at least two years of experience described in "2" above. Two years as a City Research Scientist Level I can be substituted for the experience required in "1" and "2" above.
NOTE:
Probationary Period
Appointments to this position are subject to a minimum probationary period of one year.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to independently follow through and manage multiple projects simultaneously. - Excellent verbal, written and interpretive skills. - Ability to complete project milestones on the deadline and to coordinate group efforts to finish projects. - Knowledge of Microsoft Office such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio -Strong understanding of legal and regulatory requirements.
