The Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) protects and promotes the safety and well-being of children and families through child welfare and juvenile justice services and community supports. ACS manages community-based supports and foster care services and provides subsidized childcare vouchers. ACS child protection staff respond to allegations of child maltreatment. In juvenile justice, ACS oversees detention, placement, and programs for youth in the community.
ACS’ Division of Policy, Planning and Measurement (PPM) collaborates with every ACS division to bring knowledge to practice. PPM guides systems analysis and strategic systems improvement; assures quality of practice at ACS and its provider agencies; professionalizes the frontline workforce; brings knowledge into practice; provides research and analytic support; and plans and develops new programs and policies. PPM is looking for two highly motivated and detail-oriented Data Analytics Graduate Interns to join our Scorecard team.
As a Data Analytics Graduate Intern, you will support the Scorecard Team with data visualization, coding, and maintaining key data processes using Oracle and R. Additionally, you will manage and update a SharePoint site to ensure seamless information sharing within ACS and among contract agencies. This internship offers an excellent opportunity to work as member of a team to gain hands-on data analytics experience utilizing various tools, techniques, and technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain interactive data visualizations to support decision-making
- Maintain and update a SharePoint site, ensuring accurate and accessible documentation
- Collaborate with team members to analyze trends and provide data-driven insights
- Optimize SQL queries using Oracle for data extraction and analysis
- Utilize R to create reports, conduct statistical analyses, and automate data processes
- Support troubleshooting of data inconsistencies and reporting issues
Learning Outcomes:
- Gain hands-on data analytics experience with data visualization, coding, and maintaining key data utilizing Oracle and R
- Develop an understanding of maintaining a SharePoint site in a government organization
- Enhance abilities in coordinating and executing organizational tasks in a professional setting

Candidates must be currently enrolled in a graduate degree program in an accredited college, university or law school.
- Currently pursuing a graduate degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Data Visualization or a related field - Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills - Ability to work independently and collaborate with a team - Experience with SharePoint management is preferred - Experience with SQL, particularly Oracle databases, is preferred - Proficiency in R for data analysis and visualization is preferred - Familiarity with data visualization tools (Excel, Tableau) is a plus
