About Us:
The Cyber Policy Division is responsible for establishing the collection of Citywide Cybersecurity Policies and Standards that outlines the cybersecurity requirements and practices for securing the City's information infrastructure.

Your Role:
We are seeking a motivated and technically interested College Aide to support our cybersecurity mission. The Cyber Policy College Aide will assist the Cyber Policy Team in building the foundations of the City’s cybersecurity through the creation of a unified, cohesive, and authoritative collection of citywide cybersecurity policies, standards, directives, and guidance.

Responsibilities for the Cyber Policy College Aide will include, but are not limited to the following:
- Assist the Policy Team in developing citywide cybersecurity policies and standards by researching cybersecurity topics, maintaining awareness of industry standards and applicable state and federal regulations, and drafting documents;
- Assist the Policy Team in developing products to help agencies navigate OTI Cyber Command’s policies, standards, directives, and guidelines;
- Assist in the maintenance of an internal library of cybersecurity policies, standards, directives, and guidelines used across the city.


Minimum Qualifications

For Assignment Level I:
Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school.
For Assignment Level II (Information Technology):
Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school with a specific course of study in information technology, computer science, management information systems, data processing, or closely related field, including or supplemented by 9 semester credits in an acceptable course of study.
For Assignment Level III (Information Technology Fellow):
Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school with a specific course of study in information technology, computer science, management information systems, data processing, or other area relevant to the information technology project(s) assigned, including or supplemented by 9 semester credits in an acceptable course of study. Appointments to this Assignment Level will be made by the Technology Steering Committee through the Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications.

SPECIAL NOTE
Maximum tenure for all Assignment Levels in the title of College Aide is 6 years. No student shall be employed more than half-time in any week in which classes in which the student is enrolled are in session. Students may be employed full-time during their vacation periods.


Preferred Skills

The preferred candidate should possess the following: - Pursuing a Bachelors or Masters with a focus in: Business Management, Management, Project Management, Political Science, Policy, International Security, Information Security, Cybersecurity, Computer Science - Strong written and oral communication skills - Strong critical thinking, analytical, systems thinking and problem-solving skills - Familiarity researching technical and non-technical subject matter - Experience working independently and in a group - Familiarity with the National Institute of Standards and Technology Cybersecurity Framework (NIST CSF), NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF) and the Center for Information Security Critical Security Controls, and commonly referenced cybersecurity frameworks and policy-related publications.

Residency Requirement

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
