The New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC) is the nation’s largest for-hire transportation agency, licensing and regulating the City’s yellow and green taxicabs, for-hire vehicles (including apps like Uber, Lyft, and Via), commuter vans, and luxury limousines. TLC develops and enforces rules to promote safety, transparency, as well as consumer and driver protection for a vital mode of transport in New York City. The vehicles, businesses, and drivers licensed and regulated by the agency move over one million people a day. With the introduction of new apps and technologies, TLC is on the front lines of a changing mobility landscape in New York City. TLC collaborates with renowned universities on data analysis, builds partnerships with leaders around the globe on the future of transportation, and works to streamline agency operations to meet the demands of a changing industry. TLC is a committed partner of the Mayor’s Vision Zero initiative to promote safe driving and a leader in city-wide initiatives, including open data and the growth of the City’s wheelchair accessible taxi and for-hire vehicle fleets.
General Statement of Duties and Responsibilities
The TLC Information Technology (IT) division is looking for a Salesforce Developer who will help the agency achieve its goals through designing, developing and implementing software solutions that address its complex business need to replace its legacy systems. Salesforce will be selected as the new CRM platform and the candidate must be a proficient developer.
He/She, as a leader, must be able to thrive in a highly collaborative workplace and actively engage in the development process. The top candidate will be smart, self-motivated, detailed, and feel comfortable working in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment. This role requires a strong technical background using Salesforce technologies to build public and internal facing Web sites.
Responsibilities include:
- Proficient with developing, deploying, customizing, and integrating using Salesforce
- Demonstrate proficiency in installing and deploying CRM Organizations, creating CRM entities, business workflows, and processes
- Integrate existing systems and services into the CRM architecture
- Ensure compliance with architecture standards and guidelines throughout the application development lifecycle
- Configuring infrastructure and deploying software in an automated way (i.e., Microsoft DevOps)
- Documenting all software components, within the software itself, as comments, and within other approved document repositories
- Experience working with Agile or Scrum
Collaborate with other software developers, business analysts and IT professionals to implement Salesforce CRM solutions.
- Proven communication skills with both internal team members and external business stakeholders, a strong initiative to find ways to improve solutions, systems and processes
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and six years of satisfactory full-time experience related to the area(s) required by the particular position; or
2. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" above.
- 5+ years of CRM developer experience in Salesforce - Strong oral and written communication skills (i.e., describing complex problems in an easy to understand way) - Knowledge of Agile principles and values - Familiarity with software security vulnerabilities (e.g., OWASP Top 10) and how to mitigate them - Willing to travel within the five boroughs to other NYC office locations (Long Island City and Woodside, Queens) to collaborate with our colleagues in other TLC divisions
