The New York City Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) invests in a network of community-based organizations and programs to alleviate the effects of poverty and to provide opportunities for New Yorkers and communities to flourish.
The Creative Design Manager will work within the Office of Strategic Communications. The preferred candidate will be excellent at creating eye-catching graphics for the agency’s internal and external systems and platforms, including but not limited to social media, website, IT systems, digital boards, collateral materials, logo designs, etc. The candidate should have the ability to create designs with excellent typography skills and a great sense of design that is impactful and conveys the intended message to the desired audience.tegic Communications requests portal.
Ensure that content is accurate, up-to-date, and accessible. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the Strategic Communications team meetings.
- Designing campaigns and ads for multiple internal stakeholders and the agency as a whole
- Creating web graphics
- Designing Social Media Graphics
- Developing system graphics
- Create landing pages
- Developing email marketing collateral
- Generate graphics for newsletters
- Logo designs
- Producing digital and online booklets
- Assisting in the design and layout of annual reports
- Ability to format files to AI, EPS, JPEG, PNG, PDF, TIFF etc.
- Creating palm cards, flyers, step and repeat banners and interactive ads
- Working with outside vendors and providing guidance on their proposed designs for materials they are contracted to generate
- Designing agency-wide PowerPoint deck and letterhead
- Creating Background designs for virtual meetings
- Creating Artwork & Mockups for agency-wide merchandise
- Creating digital campaign ads to be displayed on multiple city-wide platforms, including LinkNYC and
the MTA
- Updating Toolkits and Branding Guides
- Oversee photo editing or retouching
- Managing large print requests
- Overseeing the use of inhouse cutting and mounting equipment
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
At least 2-3 years experience creating graphics with an established portfolio. Strong analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail. Has the ability to oversee the completion of a wide variety of graphic/digital designs and is proficient in utilizing Mac OS, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, and Acrobat), and MSOffice applications. Knowledge of the digital printing process including optimizing print-ready files, fiery output, and using large format printers. Ability to ensure digital asset compliance with ADA requirements. Communicate ideas concisely to multiple stakeholders. Provide creative insight regarding layout, color pallets, possible print type and styles. Has the ability to take direction and feedback from various sources as needed, while maintaining a professional and positive attitude. Ability to manage revision process in a timely manner. Must be a team player and have the ability to effectively collaborate as well as work autonomously.
