Job Description
The New York City Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) invests in a network of community-based organizations and programs to alleviate the effects of poverty and to provide opportunities for New Yorkers and communities to flourish. The New York City Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) supports youth and community services through contracts with a broad network of community-based organizations throughout New York City. Our central task is administering available city, state, and federal funds to a wide range of innovative, practical, and quality programs that positively impact youth and communities. Workforce Connect (a division of DYCD) is comprised of a portfolio of Youth Workforce Development programs including the Summer Youth Employment Program, NYC Ladders for Leaders, Work, Learn and Grow, Advance & Earn, Train & Earn, Learn & Earn and CRED NYC. DYCD is seeking an accomplished candidate for the position of Coordinator for the Deputy Commissioner. The Coordinator will provide administrative and operational support to the senior leadership team. The Coordinator will support the Deputy and Associate Commissioner in identifying ways to streamline and support work across units. An ideal candidate will seek to gain a deep understanding DYCD programs, policies and procedures in order to effectively support the workforce division.
Specific duties include but are not limited to:
- Coordinate internal and external communication on behalf of the DYCD Workforce unit.
- Support the Deputy and Associate Commissioner on day-to-day management of team priorities.
- Manage calendars for the Workforce Senior Leadership team, including coordinating executive meetings and maintaining unit-wide event and activity calendars.
- Prepare presentations, unit-wide briefing sheets, and other materials as needed.
- Maintain and update the division-wide organizational chart and track and follow up on personnel actions on behalf of the division.
- Ensure all office equipment is working properly and troubleshoot as needed.
- Manage purchase orders and supply requisitions for the division.
- Work collaboratively with DYCD programs as well as outside stakeholders including intergovernmental partners, employers, community-based organizations and participants.
- Manage a variety of special projects as determined by the Workforce Leadership team.
- Represent division leadership at internal and external meetings as needed.
- Other duties as determined by the Deputy Commissioner of Workforce Connect.
COMMUNITY COORDINATOR - 56058
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
- Exceptional communication skills. - Demonstrated project management and analytical skills. - Excellent with Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Canva a plus. - Flexible team player who is willing to take initiative and find creative solutions within tight timeframes. - Familiarity with NYC youth workforce development programs. - Familiarity with the diverse communities of New York City. - Eager to learn and fill gaps as needed.
