The Fire Department of the City of New York (FDNY) is the largest Fire Department in the United States and universally is recognized as the world's busiest and most highly skilled emergency response agency. The Department's main goal is to provide fire protection, emergency medical care, and other critical public safety services to residents and visitors in the five boroughs. FDNY members are sworn to serve and protect life and property and the Department works to continually educate the public in fire, life safety and disaster preparedness, along with enforcing public safety codes. This accomplishment requires a steadfast and daily commitment to maintaining the Department's core values.

The Fire Department, City of New York (FDNY), seeks a full-time COOP/Disaster Recovery Plan Coordinator in the Bureau of Technology and Development Systems. Reporting directly to the Chief Information Officer, the successful candidate will:
- Update the Department’s Continuity of Operations Plan, Incident Response Plan, and Disaster Recovery Plan on an annual basis or as needed following real events.
- Support COOP planning and identify solutions to address potential gaps in the event of workforce depletion, technology loss, and facility loss.
- Develop trainings, drills, and exercises to test and improve the IT department’s Continuity of Operations Plan, Disaster Recovery Plan and write After Action Reports to present findings and corrective actions.
- Liaise with the Fire Chief on COOP planning and lead Citywide COOP meetings.
- Integrate COOP considerations into other FDNY emergency response plans.
- In the event of an emergency, be prepared to respond and coordinate necessary activities under the direction of the CIO office.
- Assist in maintaining and updating communications including, e-mail lists, social media, newsletters, website, and other external communications.
- Identify, consolidate, and report continuity and EM resource requirements for inclusion into the Agency’s overarching budget.
- Perform business impact analysis (BIA) required to support these plans and the identify essential business functions that IT must support.
- Work cross functionally in the identification of risk to scheduled DR test activities

Special Working Conditions: May be required to work shifts including nights, Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.


Minimum Qualifications

A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory full-time experience related to projects and policies required by the particular position; or,

Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" above.


Preferred Skills

- At least three years experience in all aspects of continuity, incident response, and disaster recovery program management. - Excellent research, writing, and project management skills. - Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Experience with desktop publishing software a plus. - Excellent attention to detail, outstanding organizational skills, planning, and problem-solving ability. - Ability to manage complex information and multiple projects. - Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
