The New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) is the nation’s largest public housing authority, with an operating budget of $3.3 billion and over 11,000 employees who manage and maintain 302 developments that house about 400,000 residents. NYCHA also operates the country’s largest Section 8 program, which provides rental assistance to about 200,000 additional people.
Reporting to the Compliance Monitoring Supervisor, the Compliance Monitor and Reporting Associate (“CMRA”) will be expected to independently conduct research in the field or at a desk in order to complete an investigation in a timely manner. Monitors will provide routine updates and be responsible for entering and manipulating data.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- May train and supervise subordinate personnel or act as a team leader for On-Site and Desktop Monitoring.
- Recommend interim and final corrective actions for On-Site and Desktop Monitoring.
- Liaise between NYCHA staff and residents to address security and safety, cleanliness, and maintenance and repairs issues at the developments.
- Direct tenant activity programs in projects; plan and coordinate activities to improve the quality of life for residents.
- Plan, implement, coordinate, monitor and/or evaluate programs providing important community services.
- Prepare evaluation reports, perform analyses and review program plans, funding and performance.
- Provide technical assistance and training to subordinate staff in techniques of program implementation and management.
- Routinely perform analysis on information that is collected in the field and/or desk investigations.
- Prepare updates, briefings, presentations, agendas, materials for internal and external meetings and possible projects on an ad-hoc basis.
- Perform difficult and responsible clerical operations.

Qualification Requirements
1. High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to duties described above; or
2. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" above.

Manages relationships, balances competing priorities, and manage up and down. 5. Detail-oriented: Reviews every comma, every equation, every anecdote, and every idea, so that every piece of work stands on a strong foundation. 6. Discrete: Acts and speaks with discretion, acknowledging that much of the work we do is sensitive and must respect many kinds of stakeholders balances caution and conservatism with values of transparency.
