The Department of Youth and Community Development in New York City aims to support community-based organizations and programs to address poverty and promote the well-being of New Yorkers and their communities. The Comprehensive Afterschool System of NYC (COMPASS), previously known as the Out-of-School Time Program, consists of more than 800 programs catering to students in grades K-12. COMPASS offers high-quality programs that focus on academics, recreation, enrichment, and cultural activities to enhance 21st century skills.

In this role, the prospective candidate will be responsible for monitoring program performance, identifying areas of success and areas in need of improvement. This includes observing activities, reviewing administrative documents, and attending special events when necessary. It is crucial for the candidate to be familiar with program standards and protocols and to evaluate compliance accordingly.


Specific Duties include:
- conduct site visits and monitor program throughout the City in-person.
- provide administrative support to program staff to ensure quality, safety and adherence to all policies and regulations.

The role requires:
- extensive daily travel to “monitor/conduct” site assessments throughout all five boroughs. Metro-cards will be made available.
- clearly documenting/reporting program implementation as well as findings, accurately using the agency evaluation process.
- navigating public transportation to conduct field evaluations and assessments.
- conducting visits in all weather conditions.

Additional responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- perform daily administrative functions as related to working in an office- which may include but are not limited to data entry, answering phones, and using data systems.
- tracking of program components and activities
- submit site monitoring reports to program supervisors and management teams identifying matters in need of immediate attention.

This position is in-person, and schedules may also include Remote and Hybrid assignments.


Minimum Qualifications

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.


Preferred Skills

Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Mathematical abilities and interpersonal skills required. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Word/Excel/Outlook 2010 demonstrated work proficiency with the Internet and Google Maps. - Ability to use Android mobile phones. Ability to travel extensively and independently using the NYC Transit System. Bachelor’s degree Preferred.
Residency Requirement

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
