Under the general supervision of the Director of Eligibility Information Services, the Community Liaison performs duties involving liaison between City agencies in understanding New York State mandates, policies and procedures, which will result on submission of accurately completed health insurance applications and for those agencies to understand how the system works.
The Medicaid Eligibility Information Services is recruiting for one (1) Community Associate to function as a Community Liaison, who will:
- Respond to general inquiries and requests for information or assistance from Community Based
Organizations, client's family members and client advocates concerning the provisions and
requirements of client Medicaid cases.
- Upon request of Elected Official and/or Governmental officials, provide Medicaid applicants /
recipients with the opportunity to discuss their eligibility situation, obtain an explanation of
reasons for the eligibility decision, and present information which may have some bearing on the
appropriateness of the situation
- Work in conjunction with the Community Coordinator to develop and plan community activities with
the advisory councils, elected officials and task forces dealing with procedural issues related to
Medicaid
- Prepare follow-up calls received on consumers issues related to the Medicaid cases and other
reports as well as maintain appropriate records
- Attend and participate in community meetings and conferences with the Community Coordinator /
Trainer within EIS
- Provides informal training to coworkers to provide accurate, policy on Medicaid eligibility
Qualification Requirements
1. High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to duties described above; or
2. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" above.
New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
