Job Description

Traffic Operation’s Signals Street Lighting Engineering Design Unit seeks to hire a Community Coordinator. Under The supervision of the Deputy Director of Signals Design, with a latitude for independent judgement the candidate will be responsible for perform responsible work in transportation engineering projects related to the research, investigation, study or examination of traffic signal and street lighting installations, modernization and signal timings. Prepares contract plans, working drawings, and other specifications and estimates of needed quantities for all in house projects. Create response letters to community complaints. The candidate will coordinate with other DOT planning units and community stakeholders. This position supports critical DOT programs, including the Vision Zero program and the Accessible Pedestrian Signals (APS) program. The role assists with transportation engineering projects related to traffic signal and street lighting installations, signal modernization, signal timing studies, and other safety improvement initiatives. The position also supports coordination with community stakeholders, responds to public concerns, and helps ensure timely delivery of projects that improve pedestrian accessibility and roadway safety for the traveling public

Minimum Qualifications


1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.


Preferred Skills


- Should be detailed-oriented, accurate, have excellent verbal and strong writing/oral communications skills. - Candidate must proficient in database usage. - Must have strong computer knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Access, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), - Ability to communicate effectively with others and collaborate in a team environment
