JOB DESCRIPTION:
The mission of the New York Police Department is to enhance the quality of life in our City by working in partnership with the community to enforce the law, preserve peace, protect the people, reduce fear, and maintain order. The NYPD strives to foster a safe city by incorporating Neighborhood Policing into all facets of Department operations and solve the problems that create crime and disorder through an interdependent relationship between people and its police, and by pioneering strategic innovation.
The Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Equity and Inclusion is responsible for overall organizational development and implementation of the New York City Police Department's Equity & Inclusion programs and strategic framework. The goal of the Office of Equity & Inclusion (OEI) is to foster equity through policy and regulation, both in and out of the workplace, and to increase supplier diversity for the New York City Police Department (NYPD). This is accomplished through transparency and accountability by applying nationwide best practices with our internal and external stakeholders.
The Community Coordinator's primary responsibility will be to serve as public media relations for the Office of Equity and Inclusion. The duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
1. Preparation of written correspondence including speeches and talking points for Deputy Commissioner Equity and Inclusion when attending department related conferences and speaking engagements.
2. Maintenance of all media equipment utilized for social media and archival purposes.
3. Research and networking with department liaisons to keep informed of all activities for informational purposes.
4. Creation of daily social media postings on all department social media platforms that relate to the mission and focus of Office of Equity and Inclusion.
5. Liaise with Creative Services Section to create videos, to include editing of videos.
6. Recording participant testimonials at OEI events.

9:00 AM - 5:00 PM; Monday - Friday

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
Applicant should excel in writing, process strong interpersonal skills. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint specifically). Familiarity with Canva application.
