The New York City Department of Sanitation (DSNY) is seeking a Community Coordinator to join the Bureau of Public Affairs (BPA) Project Management unit. Reporting to Senior Management, the Community Coordinator will support a variety of projects that require a strong attention to detail and high levels of organization. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Filing and reviewing monthly financial reports from BPA vendors, interfacing with vendors to resolve any issues of concern, and serving as a liaison between vendors and DSNY around fiscal issues. - Fulfilling requests for DSNY print and promotional items, answering questions from the NYC public about DSNY programs, and other tasks that help advance DSNY initiatives.
- Be responsible for ongoing coordination, monitoring, and documentation of new and existing projects involving multiple stakeholders; reviewing and analyzing monthly and quarterly program reports from partners; creating and maintaining comprehensive systems for project documentation; organizing and conducting public presentations, events, and trainings as needed.
- Word processing, spreadsheet, and project management technology, working closely with agency staff, external contacts, and outside vendors.
- Promote all DSNY programs and initiatives.
- The ideal candidate combines strong analytical skills with strong verbal and written communication skills, communicates effectively with multiple different audiences, adapts well to changing work priorities and organizational needs and works effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with a range of personalities and work styles.
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and writing skills. Attention to detail a must. - Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in-person, by telephone, and through written correspondence. - Team-player who can also work independently. - Strong working knowledge of word-processing, spreadsheet, and database applications, including MS Office Suite, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. - Experience working with large amounts of data ability to analyze data, come to accurate conclusions, and communicate conclusions to a wide variety of audiences. - In addition to English, fluency in a foreign language including: Spanish, Chinese, Russian, Korean, Haitian Creole, Arabic, Bengali, Hindi, Urdu, or Hebrew. - Possession of a New York State Motor Vehicle Driver’s License
