NYC Parks manages more than 30,000 acres or 14% of the city’s land, encompassing more than 5,000 individual properties. Our diverse set of assets include recreational facilities, nature centers, historic buildings and structures, golf courses, athletic fields, playgrounds, tennis courts, public pools, public restrooms, retaining walls and nearly 14 miles of beaches.
Major Responsibilities
- Under general supervision, with latitude for independent initiative and judgment, perform responsible work to assist the Inspector of Park Enforcement Patrol.
- Manage the Inspector’s calendar.
- Initiate and coordinate meetings and conference calls.
- Prepare necessary meeting materials.
- Attend internal and external meetings as directed. Take meeting minutes and follow up as needed.
- Collate prepared information into cohesive reports/documents on a regular basis for review and use by the Inspector.
- Utilize data provided by supervisors and project managers to create and maintain spreadsheets and charts.
- Provide general support services including typing, filing, answering phones and responding to inquiries.
- Assist Inspector with special projects as needed.
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
1. Attention to detail ability to handle sensitive/confidential information. 2. Excellent administrative, communication and organizational skills. 3. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Teams, Forms Excel, PowerPoint and Access 4. Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational and customer service skills 5. Valid New York State driver license.
