Under direction of the Director of Community Boards the Community Board Liaison's responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Attend monthly General Board Community Board meetings and events often held during the evening and occasional weekends. Responsible to update the Community Board on behalf of the Borough President.
- Attend Precinct Community Council Meetings held in the evening. Responsible for providing updates at the meeting and reporting back about the meeting to the Unit.
- Attend District Service Cabinet Meetings and any other meetings assigned by the Director.
- Provide general administrative and clerical support.
- Prepare and submit memos immediately after meetings; Follow up on items from meetings as assigned by Director.
- Prepare reports, briefings, and memoranda for the Community Board Director, other Directors, the Deputy Borough President, and the Borough President.
- Handle occasional filing and scheduling as well as answering and directing calls, drafting letters, and managing emails.
- Work with other units, including Policy, Communications, Health, Community Services, Constituent Services, and Special Events as appropriate.
- Maintain relationships with district stakeholders including community boards, block associations, tenant associations, non-profit organizations, business improvements districts (BIDs), and schools.
- Help facilitate the community board appointment process including the outreach, recruitment and interview process.
- Conduct community outreach around office initiatives, events, and press conferences.
- Serve as body person to the Borough President when assigned.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
The position will require flexible scheduling, including monthly nights and weekend coverage.

Qualification Requirements
1. High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to duties described above; or
2. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" above.
- Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and 3-5 years’ work experience - Experience working in government - Strong written and oral communication skills - Knowledge of agencies at all levels of government, especially NYC agencies & elected officials
