JOB DESCRIPTION:
The mission of the New York City Police Department is to enhance the quality of life in New York City by working in partnership with the community to enforce the law, preserve peace, protect the people, reduce fear, and maintain order. The NYPD strives to foster a safe and fair city by incorporating Neighborhood Policing into all facets of Department operations and solve the problems
that create crime and disorder through an interdependent relationship between the people and its police, and by pioneering strategic innovation.
The selected Community Associate will make a significant impact on the community and the 69th Precinct's outreach efforts. The responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Assist in the maintenance of communications with community members.
- Assist admin staff in performing clerical duties.
- Aid in organizing community meetings, including reserving locations, planning events, and sending invitations.
- Ensure documentation for meetings and events are prepared and organized.
- Special projects as assigned by the 69th Precinct Commanding Officer

Qualification Requirements
1. High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to duties described above; or
2. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" above.

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.
