The Fire Department, City of New York (FDNY), seeks a full-time/ Clerical Associate in the Bureau of Health Services within Counseling Service Unit (CSU). Reporting directly to the CSU Director, the successful candidate will: Respond to requests for referrals for outside mental health counseling made by members directly or FDNY clinicians. Coordinate with outside providers regarding availability of appointments and assisting members in scheduling first appointments. Work on special project targeting recruitment of potential WTC mental health providers with goal of expanding WTC mental health provider network. Enter and manage data for newly developed WTC mental health provider database. Create and maintain records and charts for providers enrolled in the World Trade Center Health Program (WTCHP). Check eligibility of clients for services provided through WTCHP flagging those who need additional certifications. Work with the Director on preparing certification packages for members newly diagnosed with WTC related mental health conditions. Be responsible for submission and tracking of WTC certification packages. Be responsible for sending, tracking, and updating records in client’s database as well as medical systems, as well as systematically storing all related documentation and records so these can be retrieved upon request. Maintaining WTC client charts ensuring capturing of correct information and maintaining database, following HIPAA regulations. Receive and review requests for member treatment made by outside clinicians. Assist the Director in generating authorizations and coordination of mental health care, updating records in electronic record system. Assist members with WTC medication refill. Coordinate with admin supervisor on site as well as WTC Deputy Chief Medical officer ensuring members are provided with prescribed medication in a timely manner. Assist in answering incoming phone calls from entire FDNY community who seek services provided by CSU
Qualification Requirements
1. High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to duties described above; or
2. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" above.
Previous customer service experience, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
