Job Description

The Leased Housing Department (LHD) is seeking an Intern to assist with projects and tasks focused on revamping existing and creating new public-facing content. Content includes informational videos and tutorials, public-facing communication materials, forms, and internal policies and procedures.

Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

1. Gain a basic understanding of key department information, including general operations and housing services.
2. Review, update, and/or create materials, including backgrounders, fact sheets, and content about the housing choice voucher program.
3. Create content with PowerPoint, the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite (or comparable software platforms), and video and sound editing tools.
4. Create layouts and designs that refresh training materials.
5. Contribute to developing multimedia products such as videos and interactive content for department use and YouTube channel.
6. Help with updating files, spreadsheets, and other assets relating to department needs.
7. Perform other duties as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

For Assignment Level I:
Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school.
For Assignment Level II (Information Technology):
Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school with a specific course of study in information technology, computer science, management information systems, data processing, or closely related field, including or supplemented by 9 semester credits in an acceptable course of study.
For Assignment Level III (Information Technology Fellow):
Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school with a specific course of study in information technology, computer science, management information systems, data processing, or other area relevant to the information technology project(s) assigned, including or supplemented by 9 semester credits in an acceptable course of study. Appointments to this Assignment Level will be made by the Technology Steering Committee through the Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications.

SPECIAL NOTE
Maximum tenure for all Assignment Levels in the title of College Aide is 6 years. No student shall be employed more than half-time in any week in which classes in which the student is enrolled are in session. Students may be employed full-time during their vacation periods.


Preferred Skills

1. Major in Communications, Marketing, Graphic Design, or a related field. 2. Exceptional verbal, written, and digital communication skills. 3. Basic understanding of marketing principles and strategies. 4. Proficient skills using Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Suite Design with a focus on Photoshop & Illustrator, closed captioning features and publishing to MP4. 5. Extreme attention to detail, willingness to ask questions, and ability to follow up.
