Job Description
The Bronx District Attorney's Office is seeking a highly qualified candidate whose diverse background reflects an ability to serve the 1.4 million members of the Bronx County community and pursue a safer Bronx through fair justice. We have a current opening for a Clinical Supervisor/Therapist. The Clinical Supervisor/Therapist will play a crucial role in the Crime Victims Assistance Bureau (CVAB). This position involves supervising and supporting Clinical Staff Team Members and interns, conducting outreach and crisis intervention, managing a caseload, and ensuring quality and compliance in clinical documentation. The role focuses on working with survivors exposed to or victimized by crime, facilitating therapeutic activities, and collaborating with various staff members to advance CVAB's mission. Reports to Director of Family and Children's Services, CVAB.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist the Director of Children and Family Services with oversight of the Therapy Program.
- Conduct weekly supervision sessions with Clinical Staff Team Members (Therapists) and interns.
- Assist in the Internship of Student Social Workers
- Assist with the provision of individual, group, and family interventions for survivors exposed to or victimized by crime and other risk factors.
- Conduct outreach for referred, walk-in, and crisis clients.
- Manage a therapy caseload, offering therapeutic services for individuals 16 and older.
- Make necessary referrals and maintain required chart documentation.
- Compile data and prepare weekly statistical reports of activities for the Director of Family and Children's Services.
- Ensure supervised staff maintain accurate and timely documentation.
- Conduct periodic quality assurance reviews of therapists' documentation and charting.
- Work closely with advocate staff to provide supportive services when needed.
- Foster collaborative relationships with legal staff and other CVAB staff.
- Assist in coordinating therapeutic activities, community events, training, and presentations.
- Prepare survivor speakers for events related to information and awareness.
- Attend all mandated training sessions and meetings as required by CVAB leadership and Human Resources/DCAS/NYC.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with the best trauma-informed therapy, crisis intervention, and victim advocacy practices.
- Lead training sessions for CVAB staff on victim services, therapeutic techniques, and crisis intervention.
- Prepared and delivered presentations for internal and external stakeholders to support CVAB programs and initiatives.
- Assist in the development of Bureau Service programming.
- Attend routine staff and leadership meetings as required.
- Keeps bureau’s director, deputy, and chief informed of updates and needs regarding the Therapy Program.
- All other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Candidates must possess and maintain an LCSW NYS License and have at least five years of experience supervising LMSW, LCSW Clinical Social Workers, or LMHCs in crisis intervention
and psychotherapy.
- Previous experience in trauma-informed therapy and intervention is desirable.
- Preference will be given to candidates with experience working with a diverse urban population of clients.
- SIFI certification and training from an accredited Graduate School of Social Work or Social Services is required.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
