The NYC Department of Sanitation is the world’s largest sanitation department. DSNY collects more than 10,500 tons of residential and institutional garbage and 1,760 tons of recyclables each day. While efficiently managing solid waste and clearing litter or snow from 6,300 miles of streets, the Department is also a leader in environmentalism committing to sending zero waste to landfills.
The Clerical Associate under the direction of the location supervisor will be responsible for operating a computerized scale and making entries to various department forms and documents. He/She will operate office equipment, but not limited to, computer entry equipment and other standard office equipment. Additionally, he/she will be responsible for all clerical functions and/or assist in the completion of all operational record-keeping.
Qualification Requirements
A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and one year of satisfactory clerical experience.
Skills Requirement
Keyboard familiarity with the ability to type at a minimum of 100 key strokes (20 words) per minute.
- Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook. - Good oral and written communications skills. - Must possess the ability to learn and operate computerized scale system.
