Open to candidates who are permanent in the civil service title of Clerical Associate or for those individuals who filed for THE NEW YORK CITY BRIDGE EXAM No. 3971 within the filing period From June 7, 2023 to July 18, 2023, which includes CLERICAL ASSOCIATE. THE TEST DATE: Multiple-choice and Qualifying Education and Experience testing was expected to begin on Monday, September 18, 2023. In addition, other eligible candidates are those who filed for THE NEW YORK CITY BRIDGE EXAM No. 4977 within the filing period From: June 5, 2024 To: June 25, 2024. Multiple-choice and Qualifying Education and Experience testing is expected to begin on Monday, September 16, 2024.

Division/Program Summary Description:

The Bureau of Public Health Clinics (BPHC) has the mission of improving the sexual heath of all New Yorkers. To achieve this the Bureau provides direct clinic services to people seeking sexual health care and services for their sex partners. The BPHC operates 8 sexual health clinics throughout New York City (NYC) and a telemedicine hotline. The Bureau of Public Health Clinics (BPHC) currently operates four chest centers throughout New York City-one is currently closed for renovations.

Position Summary:

These centers are staffed by a team of multidisciplinary professionals who provide a wide range of TB related services. Reporting to an Administrative Manager, the Clerical Associate III will provide administrative support and low level clinical services at the chest center.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Performs clerical tasks in the tuberculosis chest clinics throughout the city; perform clerical work in the administrative and/or operational areas by triage processing, recording, checking, registering patients, maintaining records, furnishing information.

Maintains files (paper/electronic) pertaining to unit operations.

Schedules appointments in the Electronic Medical Appointment (EMR).

Conducts reminder calls to patients.

Enters patient into the TB registry (Maven)

Uploads EKG reports in the EpiCare Link for reading

Scans patient information into the EMR.

Responds to telephone inquiries regarding the Bureau of Public Health Clinical services and general BPHC TB policies.

Conducts record searches (e.g., databases searches as required)

Routes correspondence and other documentation to addressee

Conducts other administrative tasks and projects whenever necessary to facilitate patient care.

Monitors the patient waiting room to ensure patients are being seen in a timely manner

Provides Saturday and evening hour coverage as needed.


Minimum Qualifications

Qualification Requirements
A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and one year of satisfactory clerical experience.
Skills Requirement
Keyboard familiarity with the ability to type at a minimum of 100 key strokes (20 words) per minute.

Residency Requirement

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
