The New York City Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS) seeks to hire a Claims Processor within Human Capital's Unemployment Insurance Unit. The Unemployment Insurance Unit is a cost avoidance unit that is responsible for all unemployment insurance matters for all Mayoral agencies within the City of New York. The Unemployment Insurance Unit is responsible for answering all UI claims and inquiries, attending Unemployment Insurance Hearings, and appealing all unwarranted charges against the City's account.

The Unemployment Insurance (UI) unit seeks to hire one (1) Claims Processor to support the UI Administrative Manager. With latitude to exercise independent judgment and decision-making, the selected candidate's responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:
- Sort all incoming mail in priority order and distributes mail accordingly on a daily basis.
- Investigate all incoming UI claims by obtaining the appropriate separation codes from Payroll Management System (PMS)
- Enter all UI claims in the Unemployment Insurance Case Tracking System (UICTS)
- Upload and attach all UI claims in UICTS
- Identify all viable separation issues to be distributed to the Deputy Director
- Identify all UI claims that require an update
- Identify fraudulent UI claims
- Processes all UI claims for seasonal employees (Parks, DOT, NYPD: School Crossing Guards, DOHMH: Public Health Nurses; Job Training Participants (JTPs))
- Process all UI claims for non-City employees (Cannot Identify) and Poll Workers (9Poll) in a timely manner to comply with the NYS imposed deadline and submit protests
- Discuss work assignments with Deputy Director to resolve problems
- Responsible for uploading and attaching monthly charges to UICTS from the NYS DOL
- Answers and transfers all incoming calls from the NYS Department of Labor (DOL) to appropriate staff
- Responsible to respond to first time charge assessed against the City's account
- Review pending monthly charges for Cannot Identify and 9Polls
- Submit monthly charge protests for Cannot Identify and 9Polls to the NYS DOL
- Responsible for distribution and review of work for all temporary employees
- Responsible for the submission of weekly timesheets for all temporary employees
- Responsible for preparation of documentation for shredding
