JOB DESCRIPTION:

The mission of Quartermaster Section (QMS) is to serve as the centralized warehouse, and distribution center of the Police Department. The Quartermaster Section is responsible for the
distribution, and warehousing of furniture, equipment, emergency supplies, and PPE Equipment, as well as the transfer, relinquishment, and other safe disposal of NYPD surplus and electronic
waste.

The City Laborer Operates NYPD vehicles and trucks and cares for cleanliness of vehicles and storage areas; performs tasks to ensure safe disposal of hazardous materials that are harmful to NYPD personnel, and to comply with NYC recycling rules and regulations, and de comptonization considerations, maintaining a healthy and safe environment.
Lifts and carries heavy furniture, office equipment, heavy boxes. and large paper shredding bins from various NYPD facilities and deliver to other NYPD facilities; Requires physical strength while performing job tasks;
Operates motorized forklifts and electric pallet Jacks and trucks in the performance of duties; May be required to unassembled and assemble furniture, equipment, and shelving during facility clean outs; may use power driven tools in the performance of duties; Engages In clean-up activities during facility moves. Loads and unloads heavy equipment, boxes, and furniture onto trucks at warehouse platforms; removes hazardous materials and deliver to safe disposal sites within NYPD.

6:00 AM x 2:30 PM

License Requirements
Possession of a Motor Vehicle Driver License valid in the State of New York.

Forklift certification is highly recommended but not necessary. NYPD will provide training classes for certification. Possession of a NYS motor vehicle driver's license and a Class B Commercial Driver License (CDL) is mandatory.

New York City residency is not required for this appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
