The NYPD strives to foster a safe and fair city by incorporating Neighborhood Policing into all facets of Department operations, and solve the problems that create crime and disorder through an interdependent relationship between the people and its police, and by pioneering strategic innovation.
The Facilities Management Division plays a critical role in keeping Department Facilities operating safe for staff and visitors as it oversees the maintenance for over 250 Department Facilities Citywide. FMD manages multiple facility renovations that support Department initiatives and unit relocations. FMD is comprised of uniform, civilian trades, professional and administrative staff.
The City Custodial Assistant will be responsible for performing tasks such as cleaning, sanitizing, washing, sweeping, dusting, mopping, polishing, waxing, gathering and disposing of refuse; cleaning and removing snow from walks; maintaining lawns and shrubs; Inspects the building and grounds to note general condition and necessity for repairs; checks work performance, assures the proper use, cleanliness and storage of tools.
Qualification Requirements
1. There are no formal educational or experience requirements.
2. There are certain medical and physical requirements.
-Demonstrate strong and thoroughness in all aspects of daily work. -Must be a team player with an energetic positive disposition. -Able to identify deadlines and work effectively in a pressurized environment.
New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
