The Bronx District Attorney’s Office is seeking a well-qualified staff whose diverse backgrounds reflect an ability to serve the 1.4 million members of the Bronx County community and pursue a safer Bronx through fair justice. The Bronx District Attorney is seeking a Trial Preparation Assistant Level 3 to assist the Child Abuse/Sex Crimes Bureau in assisting the Director and Deputy Director of the Special Victims Professional Staff.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Drafting and filing Certificate of Compliance/Automatic Disclosure Forms and Statements of Readiness under the supervision and direction of an ADA.
Drafting motion responses, subpoenas, and obtaining documentation from various agencies, hospitals, and courts.
Providing litigation support to ADAs.
Assisting the Director and Deputy Director of the Professional Staff with mentoring, supervising, and training new staff.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A baccalaureate degree preferred or a High School diploma/GED and prior work experience in a law firm, governmental agency, civic or community organization.
Prior legal experience preferred but not required.
Two-three years of prior supervisory experience preferred.
Some law school preferred
Basic proficiency in writing and research
Familiarity with Westlaw or Lexis preferred.
Ability to work independently and effectively under deadlines.
Exceptional organizational skills and strong attention to detail
Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
Discretion and integrity in working on highly confidential investigations.
Familiarity with general court services
Ability to communicate with court staff and judges effectively and professionally.
Excellent time management skills Strong desire and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
Candidate must have excellent organizational, follow-up, and time-management skills.
Strong proficiency in Outlook, Excel, and Adobe, (MS TEAMS and ZOOM)
Strong collaborative and problem-solving skills
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
