Job Description

THE SELECTED CANDIDATE WILL BE OFFERED A SALARY BETWEEN $90,000 - $120,000.
ACS’ Division of Child and Family Well-being (CFWB) designs and executes strategies to support caregivers, children, and communities, so they can thrive and enjoy self-determination. A critical piece of CFWB’s portfolio is the operation of the City’s subsidized childcare voucher system -- one of the largest childcare assistance programs in the country. ACS providers vouchers to tens of thousands of low-income and child welfare-involved families, allowing parents and caregivers to access affordable childcare at the provider of their choice while they pursue work, education, or training.
CFWB is seeking a candidate to serve as the Chief of Staff (COS) to the Deputy Commissioner who thrives in a fast-paced environment; can effectively manage complex, multi-stakeholder processes; and is invested in CFWB’s mission. Ideal candidates will have experience working in human services or public services, supporting senior leaders, and navigating complex organizations.
The COS will be required to work across teams to move work forward effectively and efficiently, including coordinating between senior leaders. This role is a key member of the CFWB executive team with responsibilities that cut across the Division’s various workstreams. Strong organizational, interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills are critical for this role. Key responsibilities of the CFWB COS include:
- Serve as a senior advisor to the Deputy Commissioner and working to co-create a vision for primary prevention in New York City along with other CFWB executive leadership.
- Represent CFWB in the Chief of Staff Cabinet.
- Communicate effectively with the entire Division about key ACS policy decisions, including those related to Return to Office.
- Support major divisional initiatives, including through strategic thought partnership, project management, and research and analysis.
- Manage recruitment and hiring priorities and acting as CFWB’s senior liaison to the Division of Human Resources.
- Lead on CFWB’s transition planning and communications as ACS prepares for a Mayoral transition.
- Support the development and implementation of division-wide procedures and protocols.
