NYC Department of Finance (DOF) is responsible for administering the tax revenue laws of the city fairly, efficiently, and transparently to instill public confidence and encourage compliance while providing exceptional customer service.
The Sheriff’s Office serves and enforces court mandates, orders of protection, warrants, decrees, and property seizures. Additionally, the Sheriff’s Office conducts criminal investigations of real property fraud, tax crimes, and the trafficking of illegal and untaxed tobacco products and synthetic narcotics, and monitors defendants referred by the courts for electronic monitoring.
The Chief of Internal Affairs Bureau (IAB) is responsible for preserving the integrity and public trust of the Sheriff's Office.
Responsibilities include:
- Fight corruption and investigate criminal allegations made against members of the Sheriff's Office.
- Prepare detailed investigative reports supporting the Department Advocate's informational needs in official interviews and trials and make recommendations when appropriate.
- Investigate case referrals from the Department Advocate, the Department of Investigations, the New York City Police Department, other law enforcement agencies, public officials, and other official sources as needed.
- Provide corruption training, monitoring sheriff personnel during field operations, search warrant executions, and conducting integrity tests when warranted.
- Liaise with state, federal, and local law enforcement agencies and stay abreast of new technologies supporting innovative investigatory techniques.
- Communicate with DOF's Audit Unit as needed.
This is an Exempt Title.
- Seven years' experience with a law enforcement agency. - Familiarity with investigations, both internal and external.
