Job Description
The Division of Administration--Bureau of Operations/Health Police Unit oversees, directs and protects DOHMH employees, clients, visitors and properties throughout NYC areas on a 24/7 basis. In meeting the growing needs and demands of the agency, this Unit requires adequate resources and workforce to perform these services in an effective and efficient manner.
DUTIES WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:
Plan, direct and supervise the operation of the DOHMH Health Police.
Responsible for the administration and the deployment of policy and programs relating to the protection of personnel and visitors to the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene facilities and the protection of city property.
The Chief will be the Agency's liaison to NYPD and the Deputy Mayor for Public Safety. Supervises the day-to-day- activities of DOHMH Health Police personnel, including Supervising Special Officers, Special Officers and office support staff.
Respond to citywide and other major emergencies, incidents, assumes command as ranking officer and establish Unit ICS (Incident Command Section).
Oversee all emergencies affecting the overall infrastructure of DOHMH property, including on call 24/7. Ensure protection of DOHMH facilities and city property.
Conduct regular inspections of Agency's facilities to oversee security operations and take corrective measures.
Develop and implement new security systems and methods as required.
Set general goals/objectives and priorities for the Unit. Supervises internal Health Police/Special Officer training.

DIRECTOR OF SECURITY (HRA/DSS - 70822
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and four years of full-time, satisfactory experience in the creation, maintenance and enhancement of a comprehensive physical security program of a large governmental agency; at least eighteen months must have been in an administrative, managerial or executive capacity, or in supervising security personnel; or
2. A high school diploma or its equivalent and six years of full-time, satisfactory experience in the creation, maintenance and enhancement of a comprehensive physical security program as described in "1" above; at least eighteen months must have been in an administrative, managerial or executive capacity, or in supervising security personnel as described in "1" above; or
3. Education and/or experience equivalent "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have the eighteen months experience in an administrative, managerial or executive capacity, or in supervising security personnel as described in question "1" above.
