The New York City Department of Correction (DOC) is an integral part of the City’s evolving criminal justice system, participating in reform initiatives and strategies aimed to move the city towards a smaller jail system without compromising public safety. The DOC is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for our employees, visitors, volunteers, and people in our custody. Importantly, safe jails enable DOC to provide people in custody with the tools and opportunities they need to successfully re-enter their communities. The DOC operates facilities and court commands across the five boroughs with more than 7,500 diverse professionals and knowledgeable experts.
The DOC seeks to recruit a Community Coordinator to assist with all aspects of Time and Leave Auditing and customer service. Under the direct supervision of the Supervisor of the unit, the selected candidate will be responsible for the following:
- Review and implement DP-2001 submissions and process manual leave adjustment transactions in
CityTime.
- Review acquired and transmitted Managerial Pay Plan records for accuracy.
- Assure Managerial Carry Over Letters are prepared for applicable staff.
- Post and approve transactions in City Time, the City’s timekeeping system, in accordance with
set deadlines.
- Complete 0150s and 0180s in City Time for separating and returning employees.
- Ensure time and leave transactions in CityTime cascaded properly into the payroll system.
- Assist agency staff in understanding citywide and agency rules and procedures related to timekeeping.
- Run system reports in CHRMS, NYCAPS and applicable software to review pay activity and
adjust course as needed.
- Provide excellent customer service by troubleshooting time and leave issues submitted by
uniformed and civilian employees.
. Ensure all activity undertaken are in full compliance with applicable laws, rules, policies, standards,
and protocols.
Preferred Skills:
Keyboard familiarity with the ability to type at a minimum of 100 keystrokes (20 words) per minute.
MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and other New York City databases proficiency.
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality, work independently, and maintain a professional demeanor.

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
