Job Description
The NYC Department of Sanitation (DSNY) is the world’s largest sanitation department. DSNY collects more than 10,500 tons of residential and institutional garbage and 1,760 tons of the recyclables on a daily basis. While efficiently managing solid waste and litter clearing the agency also removes snow from 6,300 miles of streets and serves as a leader in environmentalism by committing to sending zero waste to landfills.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
1. Generating and developing capital project requests to support collection of IFA hours.
2. Tracking and expediting responses to OMB and other oversight inquiries
3. Monitoring and expediting IFA commitments for projects that sustain DSNY’s core activities including waste management, litter clearing, and the removal of snow and ice.
4. Tracking IFA Labor Allocation hours, project budgets, and commitments toward IFA target
5. Performs difficult and responsible office operations including, but not limited to processing and modifying IPOF, IFAX, DEMT roster updates, annual certification, and other IFA documents as necessary.
6. Generating IFA P line and BCM requests
7. Liaising with Sanitation bureaus and Office of Management and Budget (OMB), other City agencies, private companies, and the public, including community organizations and groups as necessary
8. Assisting in preparation and modification of forecasts, commitment plans, and ten-year financial plans
9. Plans and coordinates activities to improve and encourage participation from the community
10. Coordinates contact with residents of projects and the surrounding neighborhood
Qualification Requirements
1. High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to duties described above; or
2. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" above.
- Familiarity with FMS2 and FMS3 budgeting, reporting, and purchasing functions. - Knowledge of capital project terminology. - Understanding of Citywide Capital and Expense budget cycles. - Outstanding attention to detail and the ability to juggle various priorities and deliver under strict deadlines. - MS Office proficiency, with an emphasis on utilizing Excel for budgetary analyses and forecasts.
