Who We Are:
The New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC) is the agency responsible for regulating New York City's taxicab and for-hire vehicle industry. TLC licenses and regulates over 130,000 vehicles and more than 175,000 drivers, making it the most active taxi and limousine regulatory agency in the United States. Aside from vehicles and drivers, TLC also regulates taxicab agents and for-hire vehicle bases, including popular app-based transportation services. The TLC plays a pivotal role in furthering public safety within New York City and is a lead agency in a citywide effort to reduce traffic-related injuries. One of the largest components of TLC’s operations is the enforcement of agency and administrative code regulations.
The Opportunity:
TLC seeks to hire a Business Management Analyst (Operations) in the Office of the Deputy Commissioner for Finance and Administration. The ideal candidate should be highly organized, able to work in a fast-paced environment, effectively manage initiatives and multiple projects simultaneously, think critically, digest and interpret both qualitative and quantitative information quickly as well as have excellent communication and writing skills. The Business Management Analyst will be responsible for a broad scope of responsibilities that require discretion and working with all levels of agency staff, both internal and external to the division.
What You Will Do:
Reporting to the Deputy Commissioner for Finance and Administration, the selected candidate’s responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to:
- Defining, coordinating, and planning division initiatives.
- Evaluating, analyzing, monitoring, and reporting on performance of division work units.
- Documenting goals and milestones for implementation of assigned projects.
- Providing recommendations to new procedures and/or revises current ones.
- Proposing and substantiating the need for new and revised standards and guidelines related to key division initiatives.
- Tracking projects and performs quantitative analysis necessary for recommendations and monitoring of division performance.
- Preparing summary reports comparing division performance to stated goals and objectives.
- Establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with agency executive personnel.
- Identifies and triages issues that are escalated to the Deputy Commissioner’s Office for appropriate handling.
- Supports process improvement projects by documenting current and future processes for review.
- Updates a shared repository of documentation associated with process improvement analyses and recommendations.
- Works on other division projects as needed and provides administrative support to the Deputy Commissioner.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and PowerPoint - Advanced skill level of MS Office including Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Visio and Project - Exceptional written and verbal communication skills - Strong presentation abilities - Excellent organization
New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.
