NYCERS seeks a Bookkeeper, Level III to join their Procurement and Administration team. This individual with work closely with the Administration Team and will also interact heavily with the Procurement Team and Finance Division. They will interact with both teams in creating synergy within each business unit.
Working with the Administration unit in updating the Other Than Personal Services (OTPS) spreadsheet and completing two semi-annual reconciliations. In addition, the candidate will assist with the generation of Purchase Orders (POs) in Sage300 and providing Quality control of the invoicing process, to minimize risk and errors within the invoicing process.
Additional Responsibilities include:
- Uploading prior years Purchase Order Documents to the system
- Work with minimal supervision and in a project team environment.
- Generate Purchase Order Summaries and charts for all existing contracts up for renewals.
- Work on reconciling the Agency’s OTPS spreadsheet on a daily basis.
- Troubleshoot problems and research solutions independently.
- Research new and innovative ways to assist with modernization of the invoice and payment process.


Minimum Qualifications

(1) Completion of 30 semester credits from an accredited college or university, accredited by regional, national, professional or specialized agencies recognized as accrediting bodies by the U.S. Secretary of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), including 6 credits in accounting; or
(2) A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State’s Department of Education or a recognized accrediting organization, and two years of satisfactory full-time bookkeeping experience; or
(3) A satisfactory combination of education and/or experience equivalent to "1" or "2" above. College education may be substituted for experience in "2" above on the basis that 15 semester credits from an accredited college may be substituted for each year of required experience. However, all candidates must have a high school diploma or its educational equivalent, and either 6 semester credits in accounting from an accredited college or 6 months of experience as described in "2" above.
To be eligible for placement in Assignment Level III individuals must have, in addition to meeting the minimum requirements, at least one year of experience as a Bookkeeper (40526) or at least four years of satisfactory full-time bookkeeping experience.


Preferred Skills

-Minimum of Five (5) years, experience working in a, Administration, Accounting, and Bookkeeping. -Must have a thorough knowledge of Sage300, Creation of Purchase Orders, Invoicing and advanced Microsoft Excel skills -The candidate must be proficient with the following: Microsoft Office Excel and Word. Adobe and Sage 300 -The candidate must have excellent customer service and communications (Oral and Written) skills.

Residency Requirement

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.
