Job Description
Civil Service Title- Mechanical Engineering Intern
The selected candidate will perform basic engineering project management tasks under supervision of senior engineers. Perform field visit and inspections. Complete reports and assist in other office work as directed by the engineers, work at Movable Bridge Electro-Mechanical unit maintains, operates, and conducts PM on 23 movable bridges citywide and 4 Fixed East River Bridges. These bridges require continuous monitoring, inspection, and analysis of all electromechanical systems around the clock to preserve on-demand and safe operation for pedestrian, vehicular and marine traffic. The purpose of this maintenance program is to perform critical preventive maintenance on different east river and movable bridges across NYC which are performed by contractors and inhouse crew on various bridges
Preferred Skills
Ability to perform inspections in all weather conditions which will include nights and weekends. A strong background in AutoCAD and MS office suite are required. Ability to drive city owned vehicle.
Preference will be given to candidate who possess a driver’s license valid in the state of New York. This license may be required for certain assignments. If required, this license must be maintained for duration of appointment in this position.

MECHANICAL ENGINEERING INTERN - 20403
1. A baccalaureate degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or mechatronics from an accredited college or university; or
2. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in mechanical engineering technology and two years of full-time satisfactory experience in mechanical engineering work.
Ability to perform inspections in all weather conditions which will include nights and weekends. A strong background in AutoCAD and MS office suite are required. Ability to drive city owned vehicle.
