Job Description
*ONLY OPEN TO CURRENT FULL-TIME ANNUALLY PAID PARKS EMPLOYEES*
Major Responsibilities
- Under direct supervision, assist Blacksmiths in doing general blacksmith work.
- Look after and attend a forge.
- Wield a sledge or ball peen hammer and handle tongs.
- Look after tools such as tongs, hammers and swedges.
- Place and heat pieces to be worked.
- Assist in the forging and shaping, manually or by power hammer or angle irons, bridle irons, tools, automobile parts or similar pieces of equipment.
- Assist in the repair of iron parts of trucks, automobiles, carts, sweepers, enclosures and other equipment.

BLACKSMITH'S HELPER - 92306
Qualification Requirements
1. Three (3) years of satisfactory, recent, full time paid experience as a Blacksmith's Helper; or
2. A satisfactory equivalent.
This position requires extraordinary physical effort.
1. Strong interpersonal skills. 2. Possession of FDNY Certificates of Fitness (F-60, G60) and other related technical licenses and certifications. 3. Valid New York State driver license.
